The globe itself is completely hand crafted with characters representative of the originals as drawn by John Tenniel from the original drawings in the first books.   Based on a celestial globe, the celestial images were removed, leaving the equatorial, the ecliptic, the stars depicted to nine orders of magnitude with nebulae, labeled with numbers corresponding to the astronomer's catalogue of their source. They then replaced the missing constellations with Alice and her companions. The globe itself was then entirely colored by hand.
